Combs Landscape and Nursery has designed and installed hundreds of beautiful and functional landscapes over the last two decades. Our design staff consists of a Registered Landscape Architect and college graduate designers with combined total of over 100 years of designing. We also have the distinction of being the area leader in computer-aided designs (CAD), having offered this service since 1994.

The obvious benefit of a CAD approach to landscape design is the ability to "see" the proposed design's effect on the home or commercial property. It also allows us to bring you ideas quickly, on time and on budget.

It starts with defining areas of emphasis; segmenting the property into focal points. Sometimes it's ground cover, sometimes geometrically designed planting areas, sometimes retaining walls. In addition to defining areas, retaining walls are also necessary for "stair-stepping" the property, providing for natural transitions in elevation. There are numerous types of lighting designed to highlight or accent the landscape: Path Lighting to illuminate paths, driveways or steps; Spread Lighting that produces circles of light downward for flowerbeds, low shrubs and ground cover; Uplighting to illuminate trees, walls, statues, and other taller objects; and Cross lighting, which uses two or more lights to reveal a three-dimensional form of object, drawing attention to a tree or bush.
